How does Juvéderm work?

The main ingredient in JUVÉDERM fillers is a modified form of hyaluronic acid (HA). HA is a naturally occurring substance that keeps skin moisturized and soft. Treatment with JUVÉDERM products by a licensed specialist provides smooth, natural-looking, long-lasting results.

What are the different Juvéderm treatment options?

There are 6 JUVÉDERM® fillers specifically designed to treat 10 different areas of the face. They are used to add volume in the cheeks, chin, temples, lips, jawline, undereyes, and smile lines.

BEFORE YOUR TREATMENT

Avoid alcoholic beverages the night before your appointment.
Avoid aspirin and NSAIDs such as Advil, Motrin, Aleve for 1 week before your treatment to help reduce bruising.
AFTER YOUR TREATMENT

Avoid lying down on your face, including the sides of your face, for 4 hours after treatment.
Avoid strenuous exercise and other activities that make you sweat for 24 hours after treatment.
Avoid facials & facial massages — including at-home devices or gua sha — for 2 weeks after treatment.
RESULTS

You’ll start to see some results immediately after your treatment. Results should appear in full effect after 2 weeks.
Results last anywhere from 6-18 months, depending on the area and your aesthetic goals.

Instantly! With JUVÉDERM® fillers — all formulated with a modified form of hyaluronic acid (HA) — you'll see results immediately after treatment.
Nope, this is a temporary treatment — once the effects wear off, you’ll need another treatment to achieve those results again.
Certain areas, including the lips (which are full of nerve endings), can feel like a pinch or a bee sting, while others are less sensitive. That said, all JUVÉDERM® products with “XC” in the name are formulated with lidocaine, a temporary numbing local anesthetic, to help reduce discomfort. Plus, we do apply a topical numbing cream to the area before your treatment to help reduce injection pain, and ice afterwards to help soothe.
Although minimal, you will experience some redness, swelling, and potentially bruising for up to 1-2 weeks after your treatment.
